README excerpt
# Reframed VR An independent operating system project to bring a SteamOS experience standalone VR headsets. This is an experimental ARM64 Linux VR environment and headset board-support project. Quest 3 and Pico Neo3 Pro Eye are development targets. Neo3 Pro requires separate board and calibration checks. There is no validated headset installation image. The development environment uses Fedora, Armada's FEX packaging, native Monado and OpenXR, and Proton for Windows applications. Quest work retains Meta's vendor kernel and board drivers, with Mesa Turnip for KGSL. QEMU provides a separate virtual target for functional tests. ## Status | Area | Verified | Remaining | | ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Quest kernel | ARM64 kernel, 272 modules and 14 device-tree artifacts compile; QEMU checks userspace interfaces and simulated thermal behavior | Exact-device boot and peripheral operation | | Quest cameras | Sensor/PHY/IFE setup, stream packets, DMA ownership, MCU commands and timestamped capture tested against retained stock code and the vendor kernel, including failure cleanup | Active camera routing/settings, exposure timing, physical capture and shutdown | | Quest tracking | Installed ARM64 runtime connects FIFO/IMU input, stereo capture, calibrated geometry and Basalt; reference replay and tracking-loss tests pass | Exact-device camera/IMU alignment, active calibration, controller poses and physical 6DoF | | Pico kernel | Vendor/Linux builds with 38 modules; Binder, namespace networking and SELinux denial checks pass in QEMU | Physical driver operation, recovery and exact-device boot | | Pico userspace | Matched native root and unsigned boot containers assembled; QEMU root boots, starts user sessions, enforces service isolation and powers off without disk writes | Physical root transport, complete application stack and hardware startup | | Pico HMD | Monado HMD with explicit calibration input; orientation, stereo geometry, both controllers and tracking-loss handling pass with synthetic SSC streams | Device calibration, panel output, controller poses and positional tracking | | Pico VIO | Native Basalt, owned camera/IMU input and HMD pose integration; six reference replays produce matching 185-pose trajectories (6.4 mm RMS) | Live camera startup, active calibration, camera/IMU alignment and physical 6DoF | | Pico cameras | Sensor/ISP command encoding, request transport, DMA ownership and event routing checked against retained firmware/kernel code and fault-tested offline | Active sensor mapping, initialization, hardware synchronization and captu
