# VLC Redesign **The number 1 best build with the design of Juxtopposed: an unofficial, modern desktop media player built from their VLC redesign.** For Windows, macOS and Linux Β· plays almost anything with VLC's own engine (libVLC) Β· version 3 is native (Qt), no web browser inside. **β¬οΈ Download** Β· Download page Β· Design video > [!NOTE] > This is an **unofficial fan project**. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by VideoLAN, the makers of the real VLC. > "VLC" and the cone logo are trademarks of VideoLAN. ## π¨ Design credits: Juxtopposed The entire design of this app comes from **Juxtopposed**: the library, the player, the onboarding, the settings window, the menus and the audio/video panels. - πΊ Video: **I Redesigned VLC After 25 Years** by Juxtopposed - π¨ Figma: **VLC Redesign (Community)** This repository turns that design into a working app. All credit for the design goes to Juxtopposed. Go watch the video! π ## β¨ Version 3 VLC Redesign 3 is rebuilt from the ground up with **Qt** and **libVLC**: it starts faster, uses far less memory and disk space, and plays everything VLC plays without converting. Every screen of v2.x is still there, and your settings, library, playlists, positions and bookmarks move over by themselves the first time you start it (after v2.2 or later has run once). The source is in `qt/`; v2.x (Electron) stays in `app/`. ## β¬οΈ Download Open the **latest release** and pick the file for your system: | Operating system | File | |---|---| | πͺ **Windows 10 / 11** | `VLC-Redesign-Setup- -x64.exe` (installer) or `VLC-Redesign-Portable- -x64.zip` | | π **macOS** (Apple Silicon / Intel) | `VLC-Redesign- -mac-arm64.dmg` / `β¦-mac-x64.dmg` | | π§ **Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Chrome OS** | `vlc-redesign- -amd64.deb` | | π§ **Fedora, openSUSE, Red Hat** | `vlc-redesign- -x86_64.rpm` | | π§ **Arch Linux, Manjaro** | `vlc-redesign- -1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst` | | π§ **Any Linux with Flatpak** | `flatpak install https://stanotermans.github.io/vlcmediaplayerv2/flatpak/vlc-redesign.flatpakref` (updates with `flatpak update`) or `VLC-Redesign- -x86_64.flatpak` | | π§ **Any Linux** (Gentoo, Slackware, β¦) | `vlc-redesign- -x86_64.AppImage` or `.tar.gz` | Or use the **download page**, which detects your system automatically. > π The app is available in **English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Polish**.
