# OpenRayneo
English · 简体中文
**OpenRayneo v1.0 — RayNeo iO companion apps for macOS and Android.**
OpenRayneo connects directly to RayNeo iO glasses. The Mac app provides a desktop control panel and local HTTP API for text, notifications, audio and automation. The Android app follows Gaode navigation notifications and connects to a configurable mobile model or Codex running on a computer. Both are unofficial companion apps; no modified official app is required.
Both apps reuse the glasses' existing page protocols. Android navigation uses a fixed text grid; arbitrary graphics and screen mirroring are outside the current scope. Download v1.0 · Android setup
## ASCII-style character video
Play a local video as a **26×7 character animation** on the glasses. Open the **Character Video** panel, choose a movie, and select **Full-width Grayscale**, **Blocks**, or experimental **Half Blocks**. Playback runs at **5 or 10 updates/s**, with optional inversion and contrast enhancement. The app decodes video locally, sends complete caption frames, and skips late frames to keep playback on time. Playback is silent.
*Bad Apple!! — an 8-second local render preview at 10 fps, using the app's decoder and full-width brightness mapping with inversion enabled. This is a software preview, not footage through the glasses. The source PV artwork belongs to its respective creators.*
The grayscale renderer averages small image regions and maps their brightness to **full-width Unicode characters**, using ideographic spaces for blank cells. Full-width grayscale display and alignment have been confirmed on the tested glasses. **Check Character Alignment** sends a ruler for checking your device. The current renderer stretches the image to fill the grid. Choose your own video; the app ships without video files.
See the character-video guide for rendering details and tested limits.
## Agent skill
The repository includes a distributable OpenRayneo API skill with connection guidance, endpoint examples, session rules, and a local request helper. It lets a local agent operate an existing Bridge; installing the skill does not install or pair the glasses.
Agents that discover `.agents/skills/` can use it from this checkout. For use outside the repository, copy the complete `.agents/skills/openrayneo-api/` directory into your agent's skill directory (for Codex, `${CODEX_HOME:-$HOME/.codex}/skills/`). Other agents can read `SKILL.md` directly. Keep its `references/` and `scripts/` alongside it.
Configure the running Bridge's current `OPENRAYNEO_API_URL` and `OPENRAYNEO_API_TOKEN` locally, then ask: **“Use $openrayneo-api to check the glasses connection and display my text.”** Never publish your token. The helper requires `uv` and uses only the Python standard library; it does not retry device writes automatically.
## What works
Verified on one RayNeo iO with an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15.6.1:
| Capability | Result |
| --- | --- |
| Direct Bluetooth connection | BLE authentication
