> **Early release!** This is an early public release. Expect it to be rough around the edges, and please
> report what you find.
## Trailer
## What it does
- **Fly missions together:** One player hosts, the other joins. You both fly in the same mission at the same time.
- **One shared world:** The host's game runs the logic. Missiles, targets, damage, score, radio and music all line up on both sides. You can even resupply together (experimental).
- **Enemies fight both of you:** They split up between you and go after whoever is closer or less busy. See
How the AI picks a target.
- **Together all the way:** Mission failure and retry, checkpoints, pausing, skipping cutscenes and the mission end
all happen for both players at once.
- **Custom in-game UI:** Host, invite Steam friends and join, all without leaving the game.
## Requirements
- Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown on **Steam**, on a Windows PC.
- A friend who has the game and the same version of the mod.
- To fly a DLC mission together, both of you need that DLC.
## Install
1. **Close the game** if it's running.
2. Download **`dinput8.dll`** from the latest release.
3. Open the game folder. In Steam: right-click *ACE COMBAT 7* → *Manage* → *Browse local files*. That's usually
 `...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ACE COMBAT 7`.
4. Copy `dinput8.dll` into that folder.
5. Start the game as usual. The mod writes a log, `ac7mp.log`, into the same folder.
That's it: the mod needs no settings file. If you want to change a setting, create `ac7mp.ini` in the game folder
yourself; docs/ac7mp-ini.md describes all of them.
**Disclaimer:** The DLL is not code-signed, and it works by hooking into the game, so Windows SmartScreen or your antivirus may
warn about it or flag it as a false positive. The release includes a `SHA256SUMS` file so you can check your download,
and the full source is in this repository if you'd rather build it yourself (see Building from source).
**Disclaimer:** Please back up your save game first. I can't help you recover your save file if the mod breaks it
(it has never happened to me, and the mod per-se does not interfere with saving in any way, but anything is possible).
## Uninstall
Close the game and delete `dinput8.dll` from the game folder. You can delete `ac7mp.ini` and the `ac7mp*.log` files
too if you like. Your saves aren't touched.
## Playing together
### Making a lobby
1. Make sure you and your friend are **Steam friends** and both have the game running with the mod.
2. Press **F5** to open the co-op panel. You can pick another F key with `toggle_key` under `[ui]` in `ac7mp.ini` if you use F5 for something else (see Settings).
3. **Host:** click **Host**, then **Invite friends**.
4. **Joiner:** accept the Steam invite, or click **Join** next to your friend's name in the co-op panel.
